Last day on the baja for this year now. I picked up a stack of bits from the powder coaters this morning so got the front bumper on and out the way.
I also got the last few little bolt on pieces into primer.

Hopefully only a day or so left on the shell metalwork.
Yesterday’s effort saw the window aperture finished off and the guttering and rear scuttle all welded in.
I’ve started stripping the paint off the O/S ready for shaping and priming. 😁
I’ve been slowly bringing home all of the baja fibreglass bolt on panels to start prepping them for paint. A few of the wings have cracked bolt holes so I’ve been doing my first fibreglass repairs. Surprised at how easy it was which makes a nice change!
I’ve corrected a few minor imperfections with some glazing putty and then just sanded everything back ready to get some primer on it all the next time I have the paint gun out.
Running gear and a few chassis bolt on panels for the baja all painted on a gloriously warm day. It’s starting to feel like spring!
Should be able to start chassis reassembly next week now.
Carried on with sorting through the Baja’s suspension components over the weekend. Knocked the old bearings out of the trailing arms and started shot blasting a few bits ready for paint.
I need to weld on some new bump stop mounts but overall they’re in good condition considering they had an ants nest living in them when we pulled them out of NOSVW’s dub graveyard!
A good start to the New Year on the Baja. Seam sealed and Raptor coated the underside, framehead and framehorns. Colour coded in Savannah Biege, or as Max always calls it “Bundy Biege” 😳
Finished trimming the front for the nose piece and added some rivnuts to hold it on. The nose fits really nicely now.
Full mockup of the baja front panels this afternoon. I’ve a bit of trimming left to do but it’s just about where I want it.
Lunchtime trip over to see @nosvw_vw_man to strip the IRS components from this knackered chassis. Came complete with vines, ants and woodlice 😎. Should clean up nicely for the baja.
